DESCRIPTION OF THE WORK
Verónica Rodríguez Chacón has specialized in the reproduction and restoration of ceramics thanks to the knowledge she acquired in Valencia: the history, the chemical formulation and the study of the different pastes and glazing of all the different periods; and the documentation and the experience she has acquired.
In each project she finds out the date when the piece was first carried out, the technique which was used and its possible restoration or reproduction. She is able to reproduce artisanal ceramics of whichever period and culture, from Prehistoric times until today.
She masters techniques from different historic periods and she formulates the enamels from each of them so they are as similar as possible to the one of the pieces she is working with. She models the clay with the aim of obtaining the ceramic paste which is most alike the one that corresponds to the original piece. Even when she receives commissions for new pieces she doesn’t use any technique developed after the 16th century.
APPRENTICESHIP
She studied three years at the School of Ceramics in Valencia (1995-1998). She set up her own workshop in the year 2001.
TEACHING
In the year 2000 she worked as a teacher in the Professional Training course in the field of ceramics within the special education centre Virgen del Pilar, in Sanlúcar de Barrameda. She has given various lectures, one of them in Sevilla, in the Ateneo, in 2004, where she received the title of Craftsman of Honour.

– Virgin dating from the 18th century: dating of the piece, restoration and replacement.
– Church of El Carmen, in Sanlúcar de Barrameda (Cádiz): partial reproduction of a socle.
– Socle of the Church of San Juan Letrán, in Jerez de la Frontera.
– Tower of the Church of San Salvador, Villaluenga del Rosario, Cádiz.
– Exact reproduction of the tile dating from 1696 of the Vírgen del Rocío, located in the chapel of El Rocío.
