Wholly artisan woodcarving and artistic joinery by time-honoured procedures. The design of the firm’s work reflects the traditional Granadan canons while also bearing an inherited family hallmark with styles including Mudéjar, Renaissance, Neo-Gothic or Baroque: bargueño cabinets of great artistic quality, Carthusian frames and mirrors,… typical 16th–18th-century furniture, cornucopias and mirrors of various types, image carriers, altarpieces, crosiers and religious ornaments, special gilding and polychromy, restorations, etc.
Hijos de Esteban Jiménez S.L., which holds an Andalusian Government craft quality label, has received various awards for its work over the years, notably including the Dama de Baza Culture Award bestowed by Baza Town Council, or the title of Master Artisan Woodcarver awarded by the Andalusian Government.
This a family of craftspeople dating back to 1798, now in its eighth continuous generation, with techniques and styles handed down from parents to children.
The family have given classes to pupils and teachers at vocational schools as well as lectures at the Granada University Faculty of Education Science. They also receive interns on placements from the Craft School of Granada. They have given woodcarving demonstrations and displays at the… FITUR tourism fair, the Albayzín Arts Centre in Granada and the European Artistic Crafts Days, among other venues.
Through their YouTube channel they show the world how the craft is learnt from the rudiments, with more than 4,000,000 views and over 25,000 subscribers.
