Julio Peña works with stone both when it comes to newly-built elements and restoration of heritage. He carves the stone to manufacture architectural elements such as ashlars, mouldings, arches, etc. and also embossments, coats of arms and ornamentation in general.
He uses the direct carving technique… by means of drawing and uses manual tools such as maces, tooth chisels, bull point chisels, chisels, toothed stone axes, rasps, etc…
Julio uses limestone from Hontoria, Silos, Bernuy, etc., apart from dolomites from the County of Valdivielso and various types of sandstone like the one from Villamayor. Apart from the work he carries out manufacturing the pieces, he also places on site different types of ashlars, stonework or dry stone and carries out flooring, paving, boulders, hydraulic tiles, etc.
