C/ Doctor Requejo, 6 – 37657 Sotoserrano
Alberto Martín Cascón is a master mason working both in the field of stone work and its application in the conservation and restoration of monuments and in the field of artistic creation.
He gave his first steps in the Masonry School in Villamayor, a centre which… decided to take action and take up the task of continuing to safeguard and promote a craft which was in slow decline, even if it was, in a way, protected by the quarries which have been acknowledged to be Heritage of Humanity.
Since he finished his specific courses on the craft, he has worked in construction works with stone for companies in the sector in Salamanca and as a stonemason specialized in artistic works. He is registered as an artisan by the Junta de Castilla y León with the number 37-1-420, and has taken part throughout his career in many specialized fairs.
The most specialized task within his professional profile is carrying out monumental restoration works with different companies with broad experience in the sector, such as Trycsa, Refoart, Valera Villamor, Sotopardo, Proiescon, Pietra or Archivolta. In these companies he has been the specialized technician with regard to restoration works concerning stoneworks, intervening in many Goods of Cultural Interest, World Heritage sites or catalogued goods. The diversity of the works he has carried out has made him have to work with all sorts of different stones (sandstone, limestone, marble stone) and also with traditional lime mortars (formwork, concreting, finishings – renders and stuccoes – volumetric reintegration) as well as historic monumental patinas. He has always adhered to the current criteria on monumental intervention as established in the guidelines of the Project Coremans2.
Today, he alternates artistic works, manufactured in his workshop located in Sotoserrano (Salamanca), with other works related to monumental restoration in all its phases and different locations.
He received training at the Escuela de Cantería in Villamayor, Salamanca, between the years 2002 and 2003.
