Francisco Treceño is an artisan woodworker who stands out in the craft of woodturning. He turns all sorts of pieces on a lathe, between centres or on the chuck. Within the turner’s craft he does a range of restoration work as requested by his clients.
He… works all woods, though he prefers Spanish ones, and the tools he uses are the traditional implements of the trade: gouges, chisels, parting tools, scrapers, etc., along with those required for preparing wood: band or belt saws, planers, sanders, drills, thicknessers, etc.
All of his work is manual and his methods traditional, scarcely modernised except for the use of tools made with modern steels, which are easier to procure.
Francisco’s forebears were joiners, but he learnt specialist turnery in a self-taught way.
On occasion he has had pupils in his workshop, but he is unable to take in any more due to his workload.
