La Manolina is a craft workshop established over 25 years ago, devoted to the creation and restoration of craft ceramic tiles and other such objects. La Manolina’s designs are traditional, as is its working technique, always entirely manual.
Its work process involves kneading clay into shape… and firing it at 980ºC for subsequent decoration with traditional Sevillian techniques. The workshop undertakes construction and decoration projects for tiling on both interior and exterior surfaces.
It works with the mayolica, water or flat-tile technique, in which oxides are applied directly with water to a previously glazed paintable substrate, and also the relief technique, in which a pattern is imprinted in the clay, leaving it slightly embossed so that the enamels applied subsequently remain separate.
Ceramicist diploma at the Seville School of Applied Arts.
Courses delivered to women’s associations, adult centres and children aged 7-10, and instruction at the ADEFISAL vocational centre for the disabled.
Worth noting are ceramics on the turrets of the Chapel of the Brotherhood of Our Lady of the Dew in Olivares, contributions to the restoration of ceramic roof elements (tiles and finials) at the Seville Carriage Museum, or contributions to the claddings of plinths, window… and balcony lintels, signage and an altarpiece of Saint Angela for the Brotherhood of Santa Vera Cruz in Olivares, province of Seville.
