Calle Asomadilla Nº 77 – 37777 Sorihuela
The artisan José Antonio García carries out artisanal stone works relating to carving, the manufacture of stone walls, general building works, paving, etc. He elaborates arches, columns, walls, corner pieces, puteals, stone framing and other elements. He has also carried out restoration works.
He has the… Master Craftsman card issued by the Regional Government of Castilla y León.
He carries out stone works and carving from the very beginning of the process since he has his own granite quarry from where to extract the raw material. In any case, he also uses other types of stone such as marble, limestone from Villamayor, alabaster, slate, etc. depending on what each commission requires.
To carry out his work he uses traditional tools such as mallets, stonemason’s pickaxes, bushing chisels, chisels, bull point chisels, wedges, etc. He also aids himself by using some mechanical tools when it is convenient to do so such as the pneumatic compressor or the power saw.
This artisan comes from a family which has long been involved in the craft. Many are the generations which have dedicated their lives to stone work and carving of stone, especially granite. Therefore, his learning and training was carried out thanks to his father and… other family members. His sons continue the family tradition today.
