Daniel Yordanov stands out for his mastery in the application and treatment of paint as an artistic, ornamental, didactic or decorative medium on a range of surfaces. He does traditional ornamental mural painting not just in restoring and reproducing cultural heritage but also as part… of new concepts, as a resource for architects, interior designers and private clients, creating settings with added value. He uses time-honoured techniques while exploring, creating and developing methods to meet specific needs, along with imaginative solutions for generating emotion and novel visual experiences – engaging the viewer’s interest through enjoyment of arts and crafts.
This is a field not without its difficulties, for when in 1998 Daniel applied to join the artisans’ association, ornamental mural painting was not included in the craft register of the region of Castilla y León. After years of hard work and awareness-raising as to what his trade can offer and its commercial potential, the craft was finally recognised officially in 2007 and included in the Castilla y León craft register as “Ornamental mural painting”.
Daniel studied Fine Art in Sofia, Bulgaria, and later took various courses at the Craft Centre of Castilla y León. He also took part in an art workshop with Antonio López and Cristóbal Toral.
He sees his main sources of learning as travel, visiting museums around… the world and observing cultural heritage.
His education has been complemented with hours of study in libraries and a large collection of specialist books.
