Polígono Industrial las Cruces V1, 04869, Fines
National Reference Centre for the Occupational Category of Extractive Industries in the field of Natural Stone
The Fines Marble School is currently part of the structure of the Andalusian Employment Service, and since its inception in 1995 it has done outstanding work in the sphere of… training and support for the natural stone industry. Given its particular location, at the heart of the well-known Macael marble district of Almería province, its main activity is the delivery of training for employment in the natural stone industry.
The School is a widely recognised training centre offering quality training, free of charge, to many natural stone practitioners.
The Fines Marble School’s main aim is to train qualified workers in the sphere of natural stone and all attendant processes: extraction, preparation, restoration, laying, or carving and sculpture, among others.
The Fines Marble School issues professionalism certificates in the “Extractive Industries in the field of Natural Stone” category. It also delivers training programmes under the umbrella of the Andalusian Specialities Catalogue and the SEPE public employment service.
The scheduling and coordination of training are the responsibility of the Directorate General of Vocational Training for Employment at the Andalusian government’s Department of Employment, Enterprise and Self-Employment.
As venues for its activities the Fines Marble School has two distinct centres: a main one in the village of Fines (Almería province), with two school buildings and four industrial buildings (for marble-laying, craftwork, numerical control machinery and stone-cutting); and a second training centre in the Macael quarries: an opencast mine in which white Macael marble is extracted.
The School gives the following courses:
– Preparation of natural stone (640h)
– Craftwork and restoration with natural stone (600h)
– Laying of natural stone (640h)
– Extraction of natural stone (450h)
– Cutting of blocks and slabs of natural and engineered stone
– Surface treatments applied to natural and engineered… stone
At the end of the courses each trainee receives a diploma certifying the training successfully completed. If the training received entitles the trainee to a professionalism certificate, this may be requested along with the diploma awarded.
Professionalism certificates are of an official nature and valid nationwide,… regardless of the region in which the training was given. The diploma issued constitutes an endorsement for employment purposes.
