The Santos family has worked with forged iron in Zamora since the year 1903. It is a tradition which has been passed on from one generation to the next: from the grandfather to the father and then from the father to his son, Manuel Santos… González.
In his workshop in Zamora they carry out all sorts of works in iron, such as handrails, grilles, balconies, locksmithing elements, sculptures and furniture. Depending on the client, they manufacture elements from scratch or they retrieve old designs. On other occasions they carry out restorations following traditional techniques using clams or rivets.
Manuel was always linked to his father’s craft. His father was the blacksmith of the town where they lived in, and it is where he manufactured all sorts of tools and utensils by the use of bellows and forge welding. However, he developed the ability… of designing as well, which is the reason why he decided to study an Advanced Technical Diploma in Applied Arts to Sculpture. When he finished the course, father and son started to work together, combining his new training with the traditional techniques his father had taught him.
