Joan Campreciós is a master painter and stuccoist from Corbera de Llogrebat who specialises in work with lime.
Lime is a unique material if treated properly, and it also enhances the breathability of the substrate it is laid upon. Joan is proficient in various lime application… techniques notably including sgraffiti with two or more colours, hot-ironed stucco, fresco painting or lliscado stucco, which involves applying three layers with decreasing particle size.
He applies finishes with various natural pigments, notably including:
– Faux stone, including imitation natural stone or facade segments, arches with or without keystones, and imitation marble and granite
– Imitation brickwork
– Sgraffito: restoration of old sgraffiti and creation of modern designs, with various styles such as Art Nouveau or Gothic
– Hot-ironed stucco
– Frescos: fresco painting following traditional techniques
The tools required for a stuccoist’s work as described above notably include: Catalan masonry trowels (with a rounded tip), pointed trowels, metal floats, gouges, knives, wooden floats, compasses, levels, various types of brush, sponges, irons for heated stuccos or zinc stencils, among others.
