In his stone workshop, José Manuel Pérez Fontán works on request designing and modelling sculptures and ornamental works of all kinds.
He carries out very different aspects of the craft, such as the collaboration with sculptors of international projection (Robert Morris, Dan Graham, Jenny Holcer and… frequently with Francisco Leiro); the restoration of historic and artistic heritage; the rehabilitation of buildings; solving constructive problems (designing and executing the works); moving and placing of archaeological, artistic and large-dimensional architectural pieces; the manufacture of coats of arms; or solutions for different ornamental and architectural elements (fountains, colonnades, figuration…) for all types of buildings and gardens, both public and private.
José Manuel Pérez Fontán trained to be a master stonemason at the Escola de Canteiros in Pontevedra and, after that, he worked for veteran stonemasons with broad experience. From mid-1995 he started collaborating with companies of the stone sector and construction field: Hermanos Sobral (single-family… dwellings), Granitos Pazos (architectural and ornamental elements), Construcciones San José (rehabilitation and restoration), Granitos Vincios (specialized in ornamentation and placing elements onsite) and Manuel Mallo Mallo (pieces for the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona).
