Calle Virgen del Carmen, 16 – 41610 Paradas
José Manuel is a master plasterer who works throughout all the phases of the decorative projects for ceilings, columns, vaults, friezes or whichever other constructive element. From a picture, drawing or idea, he rigorously draws the elements with the aid of a scale. Carrying out… decorative projects of these characteristics requires knowledge in mathematics since the different geometrical pieces must fit perfectly with one another.
A single piece might take days’ worth of work, between carrying out the stencil and sculpting the details on plaster following the drawing. The process is completely artisanal. From each piece, then a moulding is carried out, since he is always creating new decorative motives. In his plasterer’s workshop, among pieces full of dust, he has an exhibition of parts of these structures.
He carries out vaults and cupolas, interior decorations, rehabilitations of old façades and elaboration of many types of mouldings, apart from relief-carving of Nasrid art.
José Manuel started working as an apprentice in the business dedicated to gypsums and plasters José Galindo Saucedo. For fourteen years he learnt the craft linked to these materials from the masters who worked there. In 1997 he sets up his own business.
In his own workshop he is assisted by his two children who also carry out compositions for ceilings but in a less traditional manner.
