Julio Barbero is a group of artisans that manufacture and rehabilitate both façade and interior finishings with a traditional mortar made of lime putty. Regarding the techniques they use, they try to keep the mortars and finishes to their maximum purity: they hydrate calcium oxide… and they do not apply lime which has not been at least one year in the deposit; the aggregates they use are basically crushed marble stones to avoid the salts most aggregates contain and which lead to the appearance of efflorescence and decomposition of the mortars; regarding the pigments, they do not use clays, but mineral oxides allowing cleaner, more pure colours and avoiding their disaggregation. They carry out all sorts of traditional finishes: smooth lime washed finishes, stuccoes, sgraffito, inlaid finishes, with a bushed hammer, scraped, rusticated, painted with lime, etc.
