Polígono Chan da Ponte, parcela 12, nave 6 – 36450 Salvaterra de Miño
The structures created by this firm, in particular for homes, are made to be energy-efficient on the basis of a study of each client’s environment and needs. They use only wood in traditionally assembled structures with no metal fittings.
Through their practice of traditional woodwork, they… receive ever more requests from those wishing to have a whole house built this way, so they collaborate increasingly with other traditional trades. Their work includes the making of heavy frameworks without metal fittings and timber-frame structures, joining the various pieces with traditional and Japanese joinery (mortise and tenon joints, halved and hooked scarf joints, etc.), always free of metal parts, simply by fitting pieces manually with chisels and planes.
Trade School of León.
Luis Méndez, as master carpenter, teaches woodworking in his firm from his experience as well as from what he learnt at trade school on Spanish structural carpentry and other techniques.
