P.I. Allendeduero C/ Valladolid, 8 – 09400 Aranda de Duero
Ángel Pérez founded his workshop in the 1950s, for the manufacture of bespoke joinery and cabinetry. When his sons Alfredo, Ángel and Jacinto joined the firm, it specialised in the design and manufacture of staircases and balustrades, Mudéjar ceilings and religious art, maintaining the traditional… manufacturing process while incorporating new technologies in processes that so require so as to allow their products to be affordable.
They use all sorts of wood, selecting the one best suited to each job.
They design most of their work themselves, taking the client’s idea and transferring it to paper with rigorous methodology. Computer-aided design has gradually become the norm and woodworking tasks are optimised with numerical control machines, but the firm has not abandoned timeworn techniques, seeking always to maintain its work’s spirit and uniqueness.
The firm has been recognised by the Government of Castilla y León as a craft workshop, with registry number 09-11-38. Ángel Pérez is also registered personally with the regional government with number 09-1-085.
Their work notably includes stairs made wholly of wood along with balustrades for private houses or public places. Once the space and the use that the client is to make of it have been studied, a spatial distribution is established and the stairs are designed with the aid of computer tools and a numerical controller.
They also make Mudéjar ceilings, both for the enjoyment of private clients and for institutions and religious sites.
These woodworkers learnt their craft from their father, who picked it up in turn in workshops across Madrid. They have extended their expertise by attending many specialist courses at the Castilla y León Regional Craft Centre (CEARCAL).
They also learn continually from books, drawing, the internet,… trade fairs and visits to museums, acquiring knowledge that subsequently feeds into their work.
The workshop retains the spirit of traditional woodworking with the training of apprentices, with all the effort that that involves.
Today the woodshop has one member with an industrial MSc, another with an advanced diploma in woodwork and cabinetmaking and several journeymen. Interns have also been… trained as a complement to their formal studies.
Training is conducted continuously in the workshop on areas of woodwork such as carving, gilding, polychromy or inlay work, along with IT and workplace H&S courses.
