Calle Amapola, 25 – 47320 Montemayor de Pililla
Alberto García has a good knowledge on the pointing technique and the use of compasses (both used to make replicas), templates, etc. However, he specializes in direct carving. He also masters carving in other materials such as wood, clay, gypsum, lime, stoneware, resins, wax and… all types of stones as well as in carrying out moulds and manufacturing ceramics. He does all sorts of works on request manufacturing stone pieces, mouldings, fountains, chimneys, coat of arms, capitals, reliefs, engravings, graves, etc. as well as restorations.
He works pieces both by hand and using all sorts of machinery, using traditional tools such as the bull point chisels, the hand tracer the tooth chisel or the chisel, apart from the pneumatic hammer, the straight grinder (large and small) with different discs (cutting, polishing, roughening), the drill bits with air pistols (and electrical ones), etc.
He knows well all the different stones, their characteristics and the way of working with each one of them.
He studied Applied Arts to Sculpture at the School of Arts in Valladolid where he attended different summer courses: bronze casting, life drawing, stone sculpture. He received training for a year at the School of Stonemasons in Pontevedra and another two years at the School… of Marble stone in Andalusia – where he was awarded the Leonardo grant to carry out a practical internship in Carrara. When he returned, he set up his own workshop and continued his training by attending different courses on engraving and life drawing.
He has had two students carrying out their training internship period for two months each in his workshop, one in June 2012 and the other in June 2013.
He has received commissions from institutions, private clients, the Church, etc. Among them it is worth highlighting:
– Parque del Águila Imperial, in Pedraza.
– A twelve-ton sculpture, in Castronuño, Valladolid.
– Over one hundred and ninety stone plaques for the names of the streets and a monumental… sculpture, in Montemayor.
– He worked as a master stonemason restoring the Reales Carnicerías, in Medina del Campo.
