Quintana is a firm specialised in the manufacture of bells, chimes and carillons, along with all related accessories (headstocks, clappers, automation systems, etc.).
Bells are founded by means of melting and casting bronze using a mould made of refractory loam, with the use of the “lost… wax” technique. Once finished, they are tuned, with the five main partial tones being set at the desired frequency for each note.
Various improvements have been introduced in the mould-making technique, as well as in the bronze melting and casting methods, involving a considerable enhancement of the precision and final adjustment of the founded bell profile, along with exact tuning of the note and an improved bell finish (i.e. its surface).
Each bell is customised to the client’s directions and thereby constitutes a unique, unrepeatable artefact.
Bell-founding has been the family trade since 1637.
