Estucolis is a business set up by Eduardo Montañes Casanova and created thanks to his experience in the rural world and in the rehabilitation works of old dwellings. From these experiences they learnt how to use traditional materials such as earths, lime, straw, stone and… wood.
It all led to the usage of stone as an aggregate as well, adding a lime-based conglomerate to be able to achieve stone finishes without using mouldings nor any sort of additive. This way, with these lime stuccoes, they have managed to develop an alternative to modern mortars, such as the monolayer one, obtaining a much better quality and a more ecological solution for dwellings both old and new.
Few years later, they broadened their interest in traditional materials and introduced in their works clays with air lime, being one of the few businesses which work with this sort of mixtures and achieving with them a greater quality in terms of thermal and acoustic conditions, as well as aesthetically pleasing solutions.
To these materials they continued to add others such as straw which had been picked up from the fields of Castelserás (Teruel).
After various studies, they have also introduced the use of hemp as a natural fibre to increase the energy saving and as a solution against unwanted moisture, since it does not impede the adequate breathability of the walls.
Estucolis is a business which strongly opts for natural and traditional materials with the aim of respecting local culture and the environment. They have been working in the field of rehabilitation for over twenty years, standing out especially in the regeneration of stone by using mortars, with astonishing results in terms of roughness, patterns, colours…
