ACTIVITY
The process that Vidrieras Artesan carry out in the manufacture of stained glass windows is the same one which has been used for centuries. The main steps of this process are the following:
The design and manufacture of the templates.
The selection and manual cutting of the… pieces of glass.
The painting with grisailles and firing of the glass.
The preparation of the leading up process to assemble the pieces.
The assembly of the pieces.
The welding of the stained glass window on both sides of it.
The waterproofing of the stained glass window.
The cleaning and final touches to the piece of work.
TRAINING
Fernando Redondo learnt the craft in the family workshop, since his brother, Emilio Redondo Díaz, had his workshop in this father’s house. After two years of being in this workshop, he moved on his own to Caldas de Reis (Pontevedra) and for over many more… years, he attended different specialization courses: painting with grisailles and enamels on glass, firing treatments, fussing, and others in the School of Glass Art in Barcelona.
TEACHING
He has given courses organized by several town councils and by the Provincial Council of Pontevedra. These courses were imparted in Pontecesures (A Coruña), Moraña and Catoira (Pontevedra) during the years 2009 and 2010, mainly oriented towards cultural, social and occupational associations.
