ACTIVITY
Cerámica Oropesa is a business specialized in the manufacture of fired clay tiles, running since 1974.
The tiles they manufacture are characterized because they use the best raw materials of the province (earths from Puente del Arzobispo). The knowledge and care with which the masters of… the factory treat each piece can be appreciated in the quality of the final result. Modelled and dried one by one, and fired after in an Arabic wooden fuelled furnace at 1200ºC, these pieces, once placed, are the true reflection of excellent know-how and knowledge which has been passed on from one generation to the next.
The manufacture of the pieces, as it has been described above, is completely artisanal. They do not use processes involving mechanization nor pressing, reason why the fired clay flooring elaborated by Cerámica Oropesa are able to keep their variations regarding tone, their natural feel and hardness.
TRAINING
The knowledge of the craft has been passed on from one generation to the next until today.
SELECTED WORK
They have carried out ceramic elements for works in the Alhambra in Granada, the Parador Hotel of Oropesa, and the Monastery of Porta Coeli, in Valencia.
