Recognised as Artistic Stained Glass maker by the Consejería de Economía y Hacienda of the Autonomous Community of Madrid, Jaime Pacheco studies, projects, designs, elaborates, restores and maintains artistic stained glass windows. He follows in each case the adequate technique among all the ones which… are possible to carry out: classical leading up, painted and fired, cemented or with the use of reinforced concrete, with aluminium or cloisonné.
He also works carrying out reports on the state of conservation of artistic stained glass windows, advising on the best technique in order to carry out their rehabilitation and their adequate maintenance. Currently, as a consultant – advisor, he guides his clients to find the best artistic and technical solution for their artistic stained glass windows or any type of decorative glass element.
Jaime Pacheco Lorca was raised in the traditional Madrilenian neighbourhood of Lavapiés, giving his first steps in the craft at a very young age in his father’s workshop. His father, Jaime Pacheco Llorente, was a well-known restorer of works of art as well as a… drawing and painting teacher at the School of Fine Arts of San Fernando. Jaime Pacheco Lorca carried out his studies at the Escuela Universitaria de Estudios Empresariales belonging to the UCM and started working at a well-known and highly-considered workshop of Artistic Stained Glass Windows belonging to Alberto López Grueso, where his main task was to carry out the management of the business and the commercial activity at all levels. This task did not impede him from getting to know and learn each and every one of the elaboration phases of artistic stained glass windows: from their design to the final placing of the piece. He also learnt about restoration techniques. In 1999, he was acknowledged as a Madrilenian Traditional Artisan by the Chamber of Trade and Industry in Madrid.
From 1978 up until 2003 he was immersed in a continuous learning process, traveling frequently both for professional and training reasons. Finally, together with a group of colleagues, he decided to set up Vitrales Artísticos Vitralia, S.L., where he remained as the Representative Managing Partner up until 2015. The Autonomous Community of Madrid, via the General Directorate of Craftsmanship, gave him the Carnet de Artesano and granted his workshop with the Carta de Empresa Artesana.
In 2015 he stopped being a partner of Vitrales Artísticos Vitralia, S.L. However, he didn’t lose contact and collaborated with them on specific occasions. He set up a Professional Consulting Office regarding Decoration Projects named JP-Vitral.com.
October 2001: he gave a lecture at the Fair “EKUMENE Salón Europeo de Imaginería Liturgia y Patrimonio”, titled “La vidriera religiosa actual. Tendencias” (Today ‘s religious stained glass windows. New tendencies).
December 1986: he gave a lecture at the I Jornadas de Artesanos Vidrieros de la… Revista del Vidrio, titled “La Vidriera Artística, su evolución estética” (The Artistic Stained Glass Window: its aesthetic evolution).
