Avenida María Pita, 64 – 15173 Oleiros
Jorge Carril has diversified his carpentry into four fields: boatbuilding, traditional structural carpentry, interior refurbishment and artistic cabinetry, always in partnership with other accomplished practitioners with whom he shares interests.
Depending on the type of work involved, he combines traditional techniques with machinery as appropriate. He… uses everything from gouges and adzes to numerical control machines, where the job so requires.
He works with pine, chestnut and oak, among other woods.
He learnt in a mostly self-taught way, though over his career he has received training in the various fields of carpentry through courses in Italy (building with wood), in England (wood bending), and naturally in Galicia, in joinery and boatbuilding.
He gives theoretical and practical training in his workshop and at the Isaac Díaz Pardo Training Centre in Oleiros.
Notable among his work is the building and repair of wooden boats, the design and construction of wooden structures and roofs, and furniture-making with various wood-bending techniques.
