Manufacture of lime parting from limestone thanks to the usage of traditional elaboration techniques.
The process begins with the assembly of an oven. It is all about creating a lime vault within the excavation carried out for this purpose. Via a hole, one can access the… inside of the vault, feeding the fire which will transform the stone into lime. To this aim, temperatures around 900ºC can be easily reached. The firing of the stone tends to last around ten or twelve days.
TRAINING
He learnt the craft from the person who used to run the oven before him. It was an activity which drew his attention immediately and on various occasions he had helped him out both assembling the oven and in the process of firing the limestone.
