ACTIVITY
José Carlos Martín’s trade is the restoration of houses, involving various building tasks. He is a master in the use of lime, plaster and clay in seamless flooring and wall renders.
He applies traditional techniques such as mortaring, stuccoing, floating or polishing of surfaces. The tools… he uses include chisels, skimming blades, finishing trowels, Japanese trowels, polishing machines, etc.
José Carlos is passionate about the restoration of traditional houses, although he works both in traditional construction and in more modern projects. He recently opened his own shop of natural materials.
TRAINING
He has learned from various builders and craftspeople. He learned to make seamless plaster flooring with Andrés Millán, and stucco technique with Paloma Folache.
SELECTED WORK
Restoration of old buildings in Garachico (Tenerife), such as the Church of Santa Ana, the Chapel of San Roque and the former Convent of San Francisco.
