C/ San Gregorio, 50 – 14440 Villanueva de Córdoba
Juan Luis López Vacas belongs to the fourth generation of a family of woodworkers from the Valle de los Pedroches area near Córdoba.
He makes traditional joinery such as doors, wardrobes, beams and pillars, stairs, and bespoke items. He masters woodwork techniques such as cutting, marking,… jointing or turning.
In undertaking such work he starts by taking measurements and drawing up a design. Then he prepares the articles by marking out, cutting and assembling the various parts. Finally he applies the desired finish with dyes, waxes and varnishes.
He uses commercial woods such as pine or oak, and occasionally he works with olive or holm oak.
He started out at the age of 14 as an apprentice in his father’s workshop.
