Camino de la Rabia, S/N – 28021 Madrid
The main business of Tarimas y Parquets Bautista is the manufacture of solid wood flooring, using various woods and with bespoke designs for each project. The firm makes both indoor and outdoor flooring as well as continuations of existing wooden floors or solid wood friezes… for walls and ceilings.
All this work is done with hardwoods such as walnut, oak, chestnut or old pine, using both manual and electric tools, such as routers and milling or planning machines, thicknessers or moulders for smoothing edges. Mitre joints are executed manually, as are pre-assembly and assembly.
As to flooring designs, some are created by the firm itself, though it is normally the client that chooses a pattern, for which suitably sized boards for the room concerned are prepared.
Luis learnt his trade from his family, which has long been engaged in woodwork; he is the fifth generation. He began at the age of 16, becoming familiar with timber through stacking and drying it and handling a great range of woods from Spain and… abroad. Later he learnt to use cutting and processing machines for flooring and to make up the patterns that he uses today. His best teachers were the family workshop’s elder journeymen.
