Alain Jean Urbain is a carpenter with over 20 years’ experience who specialises in the machining and installation of timber structures for roofs and floors. Although today he is wholly devoted to structural carpentry, he worked for years in the restoration of altarpieces, Mudéjar ceilings,… choir stalls and the like.
The materials he uses in his structures are mainly Scots pine from the Sierra de la Demanda in the provinces of Burgos, Soria and La Rioja, laminated wood (to an extent), and iron for crafting metal fittings.
When working he uses both manual tools and handheld machines, always on site.
Alain was trained at the Burgos School of Arts and Crafts, where he obtained a degree in arts applied to woodwork. He completed his training with a placement in the restoration firm Coresal.
Although he has not trained any apprentice carpenters, he would much like to have the chance to do so.
Roofs of the churches of the Assumption of Our Lady in the Cótar district of Burgos, of Villarmentero (Palencia province), and of Las Quintanillas (Burgos province). He has also worked on various houses in the village of Santiuste (province of Guadalajara).
